To the Hotel! York’s the Place to be!
For a UK city break you can;t beat York. You can’t necessarily guarantee the weather, but it still offers the perfect blend of culture and romance for your city break. There’s too much to see in one day, so you’ll almost certainly need a couple of days and a hotel, York has plenty though.
The small and historical city is unrivalled in the UK. Charming cobbled streets offer shopping from national stores and independent boutiques. There’s also some seriously impressive architecture in the form of York Minster and several cafes and bars to relax in on the riverside.
The city’s heritage includes influences from the Romans, the Viking and Medieval times and as a result the city has some great museums, including the Jorvik Viking Centre and the York Dungeons. But there’s always the National Railway Museum for a more modern day out.
Away from the centre and your hotel, York is close to the dales and some stunning countryside. Gardening enthusiasts should be sure to visit the gardens at nearby Harewood house which were nominated best garden by Gardeners’ World magazine.
Regardless of the season, there’s always something going on in the city. The city plays host to a variety of fairs, festivals and exhibitions. There’s the railway show, the Roman festival and the races as well as frequent markets offering produce from the local region and further afield.
As far as staying in a hotel, York has a lot to offer. Alwark Manor is a luxurious hotel York prides itself on. This is great choice because it has a golf course and spa to relax in after sight-seeing.
It is easy to get York by car or train. However, in order to see some of the surrounding countryside it is advisable to drive or hire a car on arrival.

Oh honey thats NOTHING. I've come across body parts and hella random stuff being sold on ebay. You can find ANYTHING on ebay. But just be careful cause fraud is way more common now-a-days.
