Flat Feet and Foot Overpronation: New Medical Procedures
The majority of people who experience pain in the heel area assume that it's nothing to worry about and will diminish solely by resting and becoming less active. Unfortunately, somewhat often the heel pain is a warning signal from the body that it is injured. Malformed foot conditions such as foot overpronation or flat foot can lead to more severe conditions such as plantar fasciitis. This often disabling pain in the heel area of the foot can be treated in a operating room as an outpatient.
Over-Pronation and Fallen Arches Can Lead to Serious Anatomical Issues
As reported by the APMA (American Podiatric Medical Association), plantar fasciitis can be caused by faulty biomechanics and walking motion. These issues can include overpronation and flat feet, for instance. When the feet and leg biomechanics are out of step with the entire body, undue impact and jarring are put on bones and ligaments of the feet that are not meant to bear those stresses. For example, running on a hard surface or even being overweight can all be contributing factors for heel pain.
Therapy For Plantar Fasciitis Sometimes Requires Surgery
A surgery known as Instep Plantar Fasciotomy is a plantar fasciitis treatment that is done under ankle block anesthesia (patient is awake but the foot is numbed). The plantar fascia is a ligament of tissue at the root of pain caused by this condition. The surgeon opens the heel through a small incision made above the affected area of the heel. The inflamed area and injured tissue is taken out from the affected foot. Once the incision is sutured, a walking shoe is recommended to be used for an estimated four to six weeks, depending upon the patient's recovery.
Overpronation and Low Arches Also Result in a Non-Surgical Flat Feet
Low level sound frequencies are also being used today to treat certain foot problems. Known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), this solution aims to use small amounts of sound waves to eliminate the affected tissues. It Is apparently illogical, but it isn't. The injuring of these tissues in tiny amounts actually instigates the body's healing response and helps the plantar fasciitis to resolve itself. In a 2004 study, it took 800 study participants about 2 months to heal completely with about 80% to 90% success.
Cut Healing Time Dramatically with this Plantar Fasciitis Therapy
Lastly, shorter down time can be achieved with treatment of plantar fasciitis if an endoscopic procedure is performed. In this procedure, the foot is given a nerve block in the ankle while the patient is conscious. Given that some physicians may prefer to use a general anesthesia, that is also a viable way to carry out the operation with less stress to the individual. Quarter-inch incisions are made in the left and right sides of the heel to access the affected regions. A camera is used to aid the doctor to find the plantar fascia ligament. Once it has been identified, it is surgically fixed so that it can heal properly.
Over-Pronation and Flat Feet Can be Treated Before it Turns Into Plantar Fasciitis
Though surgery is only required in about 5% of the cases of heel pain from plantar fasciitis, it's recommended to be aware of the procedures that doctors are using today. Continuing with PT (physical therapy) is one of the best things people can do after undergoing any of these procedures. Manual manipulation, water pool exercise, and lengthening the tissues are just some of the many tools in the physical therapist's toolbox that can assist. For persons with walking gait abnormalities and biomechanical problems such as over-pronation or low arches, arch support insoles are recommended to stop the return of this painful condition.
What size ceiling speakers should I get for a 6 1/2 inch cut out hole?
These cut out holes were pre drilled and they screwed up I m not sure but they measure at about 6 1/2 inches in diameter, I have some pyle driver pro 200 watt speakers that say their 6 1/2 inches but what do they measure. Because when I measured the dog ear prongs form both sides they measured 7 1/2 so please someone whose done this before help me.
The cutouts were done for a specific model/size of speaker. It's unlikely even the same size of another brand of speaker will match perfectly. Note that the important point is the mounting holes. You have two choices a) draw a template of the cutout and the mounting holes and take to a store that sells a range of speakers to see what matches (or comes very close), or b) plan to redo the cutouts to fit a similar sized speaker and mount a grill over it to hide any extra holes. Either way it's more important to get speakers that give you the performance you want rather than worry overly about size.
